Message from The Chair / CASP Member Survey 2021

It goes without saying that it has been an unprecedented year for all of us. We offer a heartfelt thanks to those residents and organisations in Camden and beyond who have served tirelessly on the frontline during this time to ensure that our residents continue to receive much needed services and assistance during these difficult past months.

We are also most grateful to our Camden Town DMC Representative who has worked consistently to ensure that our website is as up to date as possible with useful and interesting information.

We have been working on a CASP member survey to help guide our work in the weeks and months ahead, especially as we are at the moment unable to plan large physical meetings. It would help us enormously if you could find the time to complete and return the survey – please see the below link to the survey.

We are also aiming to get hard copies of the survey out to members as quickly as possible, but this may still take some time due to the restrictions in some services still in place. We know this is important for those members who are not on-line. We need to start planning our work programme and would be grateful if you could complete and return the CASP member survey as soon as possible.

Agar Grove Redevelopment wins Passivhaus award

The redevelopment of the Agar Grove Estate has won Large Project of the Year at the 2021 UK Passivhaus Awards.

Passivhaus is a type of building (doesn’t have to be a house!) that is super-insulated and energy efficient, has no cold drafts in winter, doesn’t overheat in summer, and has good ventilation. Many people think that this type of building is what all buildings should be like in the future if society is going to drastically cut its greenhouse gas emissions.

Free COVID-19 vaccinations in Camden

A message from Camden Council:

If you haven’t yet had your first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, there are pop-up vaccine events happening in Camden every day this week except for Sunday, many of which don’t require bookings in advance – see below for more info or visit camden.gov.uk/getting-the-vaccine.

If you haven’t had your first dose then please pop-along and get vaccinated – and why not invite unvaccinated friends and family members to join you? Unless stated otherwise, if you’re eligible for your second dose of the vaccine you’ll be able to get that too but you must have had the same vaccine for your first dose. Click here for more information.

You don’t need to be registered with a GP or have an NHS number to be vaccinated and we won’t ask for proof of ID, address or immigration status.

Alternatively, you can also book a vaccine appointment by calling 119 for free or visiting nhs.uk/coronavirusvaccine. Those not registered with a GP can complete the form at camden.gov.uk/form and anyone needing support to book an appointment can call us on 020 7974 4444 (option 9).

If you’re not free this week, we’ll be adding all local vaccine events to our website at camden.gov.uk/getting-the-vaccine

Magna Carta Day – 15 June

Magna Carta was signed on 15 June 1215 at Runnymede near Windsor by King John and his Barons.

It promised the protection of church rights, protection for the barons from illegal imprisonment, access to swift justice, and limitations on feudal payments to the Crown, to be implemented through a council of 25 barons. This council would later develop into Parliament.

The British Library has two original copies that are now more than 800 years old.
