Camden D/deaf Advice Service Launch
Today at 3 pm, there is a free event at the Greenwood Centre, 37 Greenwood Place. find out about the service and provide feedback on the service.
BSL interpreters will be present, as well as light refreshments.
Camden Council wants to learn from deaf residents
Camden Council are holding a workshop on Tuesday 13 September to learn from hearing impaired residents about their experiences contacting the Council, especially housing repairs.

Government backs bill to promote use of British Sign Language
Workshops between Deaf Community and Council Officers
Below are invitations to two (2) workshops to be held between the Deaf community and Camden Council officers. They will be held in November.
Although the closing date to be involved was 22 October, if you feel that you should attend these workshops, please contact the organisers.

Recent news for the deaf community
There have been two recent cases where the deaf community have been found to have discriminated against.
So just a reminder that if you provide services, you should be trying to make them accessible for all users.
Deaf-Led Tours at the British Museum
The British Museum is having a deaf-led virtual tours of their exhibits. The tours are on Zoom and will be in BSL, with NO captions or voiceover.
The first one is tour of their mediaeval collections on 21 May 2021 at 6 pm.

The second event will be on 14 July 2021, from 6 pm to 7 pm, and will be of their new exhibition on St Thomas Becket.

Stagetext – Making culture accessible for the hard of hearing
Stagetext is a registered charity which provides captioning and live subtitling services to theatres and other arts venues to make their activities accessible to people who are d/Deaf, deafened or hard of hearing.
It was established in May 2000 by Peter Pullan, Merfyn Williams and Geoff Brown, each of whom had varying types of deafness and a determination to improve access to the performing arts for all deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people.
