The Ultra Low Emission Zone is expanding

If you own a car, you will be aware of the Ultra Low Emission Zone, a measure to reduce air pollution in central London by charging daily for driving a polluting vehicle inside the zone.

Before it was only within the Congestion Charging Zone (so only Holborn was inside the zone), but now it has been expanded out to the North Circular and the South Circular, including the whole of the Borough. So if you have an older car, you may need to start paying the new charge.

For more information, see the TfL website:

Flooding in Camden – repairs service taking emergency calls only

Dear tenant

You may be aware that there was flooding again in areas of Camden yesterday (Sunday 25 July).

Yesterday’s flooding was less severe than the flooding two weeks ago, but the repairs service are receiving a very high volume of calls for support related to water damage or other issues caused by the heavy rain, so we are currently only taking emergency calls.

If you need emergency repairs to your council home caused by flooding, call us on 020 7974 4444, option 3 then 1. We will get to everyone so please bear with us and stay on the line if you’re struggling to get through. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call the emergency services on 999.

We are currently only taking emergency calls, so please only contact us by phone to report an emergency repair. If your repair is not an emergency, you can report it online as normal using your Camden Account.

Please be aware that if you report an emergency which isn’t an emergency, our repairs staff will not complete your job and you will need to book another appointment.

Contact your neighbourhood housing officer if you need help or support because of flooding. There is more information about the flooding and support for Camden residents on our website.

We have had to cancel some non-emergency repairs this week so that we can prioritise the people whose homes have been affected by the floods. If your repair has been delayed, we apologise for the inconvenience as we know that some tenants have been waiting a long time for non-essential repairs. We assure you we will get to your job as quickly as we can.

Thank you all for your patience.

Free COVID-19 vaccinations in Camden

A message from Camden Council:

If you haven’t yet had your first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, there are pop-up vaccine events happening in Camden every day this week except for Sunday, many of which don’t require bookings in advance – see below for more info or visit camden.gov.uk/getting-the-vaccine.

If you haven’t had your first dose then please pop-along and get vaccinated – and why not invite unvaccinated friends and family members to join you? Unless stated otherwise, if you’re eligible for your second dose of the vaccine you’ll be able to get that too but you must have had the same vaccine for your first dose. Click here for more information.

You don’t need to be registered with a GP or have an NHS number to be vaccinated and we won’t ask for proof of ID, address or immigration status.

Alternatively, you can also book a vaccine appointment by calling 119 for free or visiting nhs.uk/coronavirusvaccine. Those not registered with a GP can complete the form at camden.gov.uk/form and anyone needing support to book an appointment can call us on 020 7974 4444 (option 9).

If you’re not free this week, we’ll be adding all local vaccine events to our website at camden.gov.uk/getting-the-vaccine
