Community snow clearing

Community snow clearing – request a snow shovel and grit salt

Every winter, Camden Council grits key roads and footpaths.

If you’re able to, you can also help keep your local pavements clear from snow and ice for your community.  With their partner Veolia the Council can provide Camden residents and community groups snow shovels and bags of grit salt for this.

Find out more about this offer, and request free snow shovels and grit at camden.gov.uk/winter-weather. Also refer to the attached information flyers.

Happy Hanukkah!

Happy Hanukkah Candelabra
Happy Hanukkah

From Thursday evening, we have been in the Jewish festival of Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights.

It commemorates the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem in 164 BCE by Judah Maccabee, whose family ruled an autonomous Jewish kingdom for about 100 years, until they were conquered by the Romans. It is said that a lamp was required to burn through the night to help purify the Temple. Only a small amount of olive oil could be found, but miraculously it burned for eight nights.

Views sought from Leaseholders

Message from Councillor James Slater:

I would like to invite you to attend one of the “Listening to Leaseholders” sessions which I will be running throughout Camden this December.

I have been appointed as Cabinet Advisor for Improving Services to Camden Leaseholders this year and, as part of my report, I want to hear from leaseholders across the borough on what is going well, what could change and what needs to improve. These will guide the recommendations I make in my report to Camden Council in the spring.

I will be in attendance as well as members of Camden’s Leaseholder Services team to answer questions and hear feedback.

The sessions will be held on:

  • Thursday 7 December 2023 – 6:30pm-8pm – Swiss Cottage Library
  • Tuesday 12 December 2023 – 6:30pm-8pm – Camden Town Hall
  • Thursday 14 December 2023 – 6:30pm-8pm – The Greenwood Centre

You must RSVP to the sessions in advance by emailing me at james.slater@camden.gov.uk – please include both your home address and which session you wish to attend. Places will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis.

I really look forward to hearing from you at one of these sessions. Thank you very much for your support and please let me know if you have any questions.

Help Camden’s Housing & Repairs services improve how we respond to complaints and learn from them

Are you passionate about creating positive change in social housing? Do you want to make a difference to what happens with Camden Council Housing & Repairs complaints? If so, then we want your help!

Our Housing & Repairs services receive and investigate complaints from residents who are unhappy with the service we’ve provided them. Every single one of those cases is an opportunity for us to understand and learn from what went wrong, so we don’t make the same mistakes again.

We don’t always make the most of these opportunities, but with your help we want to get better at learning from complaints, and improving the problems they highlight.
