Coronavirus deaths in Camden care homes

A recent article in the Camden New Journal states that there have, sadly, been coronavirus-related deaths in 10 of the 11 care homes in Camden.

Exact numbers are not known at the moment, for a number of reasons, including lack of testing, and transferral of patients between care homes and hospitals.

Our thoughts continue to be with all the families affected.

Things to do while isolated – Keeping Fit

As this time of social distancing goes on, it becomes more and more important to do some sort of exercise to keep fit and and active.

There are all sorts of things available to help us do that, from apps to websites, to Youtube channels.

Websites like walkit.com allow circular walks of various lengths to be followed. Just put in your starting point, how long you’d like to walk, and your walking speed, and it will do the rest.

Or you’ve heard of Joe Wicks and his morning workout classes for kids (and adults!):

Emergency food packages

A message from Camden Council:

Emergency Food Packages – provision available for those in crisis

In recognition of the increased risk of food poverty in Camden due to Covid-19, we are partnering with Age UK to deliver emergency food packages to those that are:

  • Housebound and
  • Can’t get food and
  • Are in food crisis (loosely defined as 2 days or less of food and without perishables)

For clarity: although we are partnering with Age UK, this offer is not restricted to those over 55. It is for anyone that is housebound, can’t get food and is in food crisis.

From Tuesday 24th March Camden residents experiencing the challenges listed above will be able to get one of these emergency food packages through:

CASP Announcement – Coronavirus Outbreak – 21 March 2020

Because of the current coronavirus outbreak, and in line with the latest NHS and Government guidance, the majority of our activities – attendance at public meetings, everyday liaison with Camden Council, etc, – will cease until the time we receive advice that it is safe for UK residents to resume normal activities

Over the past couple of weeks, we have focused our efforts on maintaining an online presence via our website and have posted important statements and other related information, which we have received as a Camden Association with an active membership.

So long as capacity is available, we will continue to update our website with information, which our members may find useful during this difficult time.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and sincerely hope that normal everyday activities will resume in the not too distant future.

Please stay safe and well!
